The 2009 ASSID Conference committee is seeking abstracts based around the following themes:

PRESENTATION TYPES
Successful abstracts will be allocated one of four types of presentation.
Poster: Scheduled poster
Oral: 30 minutes
Workshop: 90 minutes
Symposia: 2 hour group presentation
• Groups of presenters may submit abstracts
on the same theme with the view to present together.
The organising committee may also group authors who have submitted related abstracts.
You will be asked to nominate your preferred presentation type when you submit. Presentations which are not accepted in their preferred presentation type, may be selected for an alternative presentation; ie a Workshop may be offered a Concurrent Session, or authors may be grouped into a Symposia.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION PROCESS
It is understood that in submitting an abstract, authors are indicating their intention to register for the conference, subject to their abstract being presented.
ABSTRACT CONTENT GUIDELINES
Abstracts must:
• be original works
• be no longer than 1 full A4 page or 650 words in 11 pt Arial or 12 pt Times New Roman
• outline presentations that address specific research, practice or policy initiatives or which are designed to promote discussion on an issue consistent with the conference theme
• demonstrate how the intended presentation will reflect the principals of evidence based practice. That is, be based on a systematic account of the activities or experiences of researchers, practitioners and / or people with disability their families and friends
• specifically include details of a clear background (why this topic is important), method (a description of what was done), results (what happened and what was found) and implications (what does the mean and how others might use this information)
SUBMISSION – OXFORD ABSTRACTS
• Abstracts must be submitted electronically via Oxford Abstracts
• When you log on to Oxford you must first register as a user, you will then be
emailed a full set of instructions and a template
• Abstracts must be submitted in the template format
• There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit, however authors MUST submit a separate abstract for each presentation put forward for consideration
• Faxed abstracts will not be accepted
• Abstracts must be received no later than
13 April 2009
• Failure to comply with the abstract submission guidelines or process could result in your abstract being withdrawn from the peer review process
• Once submitted changes to your abstract cannot be made
• Minor grammatical changes will be at the discretion of the Review Committee for editing purposes
• All successful abstracts will appear in their full form in the conference proceedings, which will be published for distribution to all conference delegates. Note that your abstract will appear in print as it is received
ACCEPTANCE
• Receipt of your abstract, confirmation of password, instructions and a template will be emailed as soon as you register as a user on Oxford Abstracts
• Comments to authors will be provided by
18 May 2009
• Acceptance to Authors will be provided by
1 June 2009
• Resubmission deadline is 1 July 2009
• The Review Committee reserve the right to negotiate the format of the presentation with the author
POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Participants who prepare a visual poster display will need to ensure that their actual poster display does not exceed 1189 x 841cm – or a standard A0 card. These will be mounted on a display panel, with relevant Poster Defence time allocated in the program. Full poster preparation guidelines will be provided to interested parties closer to the conference date. Authors will be asked to bring their final poster with them to the conference.
