The 32nd ARPS Conference is this weekend - here is some information you may find useful as your prepare to attend our Brisbane conference.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Keynote Speakers - Gabi Voigt has unfortunately had to cancel her involvement in the conference due to circumstances beyond her control. As a result the keynote presentation will be given by Dr John Loy, CEO ARPANSA. Gabi Voigt’s presentation will be available from the registration desk.
Welcome
It is our pleasure to invite all members of ARPS and others with an interest in radiation safety to the 32nd annual conference of the Australasian Radiation Protection Society. The conference will be held in Brisbane from Monday 22nd to Wednesday, 24th October 2007, at the beautiful Stamford Plaza, which is located in the CBD, on the Brisbane River. Post conference tours and workshops will be conducted on the Thursday. On the social side, the conference event will include a pre-registration cocktail evening preceding the conference and an official conference dinner.
Some important topics and workshops suggested for ARPS32 are:
- Operational radiation protection
- Dealing with the perceptions of risk
- New uses of radiation in medicine
- Use of lasers and intense pulsed light sources
- Environmental remediation and managing NORM
- Extremely low frequency and microwave radiation
- Our nuclear industry
- Radiation in the mining industry
- Epidemiology
We believe ARPS32 will be an important forum in which radiation safety people can meet and exchange ideas, enhance their understanding of current issues, and combine to meet the challenges that confront society on the radiation safety, health and environmental fronts. We urge you to join us in Brisbane and take an active role in the conference by presenting a paper or poster, or leading a workshop session.
