Invitation To Attend
On behalf of the Australian Women’s Health Network I am delighted to announce the 6th Australian Women’s Health Conference ~ Women’s Health: The New National Agenda will be held in Tasmania, Australia, 18 – 21 May 2010. The Conference will take place at the Hotel Grand Chancellor located in Sullivans Cove - the heart of Hobart’s beautiful waterfront precinct.
The major focus of the Conference will be to continue the work of getting women’s health as a priority issue onto the public agenda. It will provide an opportunity for individuals, organisations and services involved and concerned with women’s health to contribute tointernational dialogue, share ideas, knowledge and practice. In particular, the Conference offers a platform for mobilising capacity for women’s health and wellbeing in Australiain light of the Federal Government’s agreement earlier this year to develop a new national women’s health policy. Delegates will examine the changing social, economic, cultural and political contexts affecting women’s health as well as the policy and practice that promote better health outcomes for women.
The 6th Australian Women’s Health Conference program will also incorporate a stimulating and diverse arts component, showcasing the work of Australian and particularly Tasmanian practitioners, as well as a broad range of social events providing plenty of opportunity to meet and get to know other delegates in relaxed environments.
Abstracts are now invited for oral presentations, workshops, performances and poster presentations as detailed below. Those on Aboriginal women’s health are particularly welcome.
National organisations should consider hosting their annual meetings just prior to or during the conference to take advantage of members being in the same location.
I am confident this will be an engaging, energetic and important Conference and we look forward to receiving and reading your submissions.
Yours sincerely,
Kelly Banister
