The Australian Women's Health Conference was a huge success. Thank you to all delegates for attending and contributing
Message from Kelly Banister, Convenor
Dear Delegate/friend,
Thank you for making the 6th Australian Women’s Health Conference such an amazing event - for sharing your ideas and work so generously, for being so willing to offer an opinion and to consider other points of view, and also for sharing your passion, laughter and commitment to issues of women’s health! I had actually expected to feel completely exhausted after the Conference, but rather I feel recharged, inspired and enthusiastic. I hope you all arrived home safely, feeling likewise invigorated.
A recording of our fabulous Conference Choir singing our theme song, Steer by Missy Higgins, will be available for viewing on the website; we are presently trying to make it a suitable size for everyone to download; as soon as its available, we will let you know. I will also send a copy to Missy so she can hear how gorgeous you sound.
As well we are finalising photo montages; powerpoint presentations, full papers and these will go up on the conference website as soon as we can. It is hoped that this be available by the middle of next week.
A few reminders, if you have not submitted your full paper, we would very much appreciate if you could forward those to jenna@leishman-associates.com.au we are very keen to get as many published and on the website as possible.
Warmest regards,
Kelly

Invitation To Attend
On behalf of the Australian Women’s Health Network I am delighted to announce the 6th Australian Women’s Health Conference will be held in Tasmania, Australia, 18 – 21 May 2010 and invite your attendance at this important event, It will take place at the Hotel Grand Chancellor located in Sullivans Cove - the heart of Hobart’s beautiful wat
erfront precinct.
The major focus of the Conference, entitled Women’s Health: The New National Agenda, will be to continue the work of getting women’s health as a priority issue onto the public agenda. It will provide an opportunity for individuals, organisations and services involved and concerned with women’s health to contribute to international dialogue, share ideas, knowledge and practice. In particular, the Conference offers a platform for mobilising capacity for women’s health and wellbeing in Australia in the context of the Federal Government’s agreement last year to develop a new national women’s health policy. Delegates will examine the changing social, economic, cultural and political contexts affecting women’s health, as well as policy and practice that promote better health outcomes for women.
The 6th Australian Women’s Health Conference will also incorporate a stimulating and diverse arts and cultural program showcasing the work of contemporary and traditional practitioners, at the Conference and various other Hobart venues. These and other social events will provide plenty of opportunity to meet and get to know other delegates in relaxed environments. The conference also offers organisations an opportunity to host their own meetings in Hobart prior to the conference, taking advantage of members being located together in the same city at the same time.
Abstracts submission has now closed. On behalf of the Conference Program Chair, Marilyn Beaumont and program committee we would like to thank all those authors who prepared a submission to present, the number of submissions and quality of their content was extremely high. Accepted Authors can check their presentation times on the preliminary program which will be available for download from the 'Conference Program' page.
We would like to thank the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing for its funding support of this event, which we are confident will be an engaging, energetic and significant Conference.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Hobart in 2010.
Yours sincerely,
Kelly Banister
