Welcome

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 2007 TAFE in Rural and Isolated Communities conference website hosted by TAFE Tasmania. This conference is an important event for both TAFE communities around the country as well as enterprises and community based organisations operating in rural and isolated areas. Your presence and input to these deliberations and discussions will be very welcome and I hope you are able to attend.

Under the theme Regional Based Enterprise Learning and Long Distance Relationships, we invite expressions of interest for presentations (including online or video case studies), workshops, panels or keynote speakers at the 2007 conference.

We are particularly interested in presenters who can engage conference participants with their expertise or experience in innovative delivery and assessment strategies relevant to rural and remote communities. The conference format will be about sharing ideas and best-practice and provides an opportunity for participants to discuss how they've overcome challenges faced in delivering training in, and to, rural and remote areas.

Participation by anyone involved in the vocational training sector is strongly encouraged including teachers, administrators, assessors, facilitators, industry and enterprise stakeholders, compulsory school sector, Online Access Centre network, community sector as well as indigenous representatives.

Reflecting and reinforcing the theme Regional Based Enterprise Learning and Long Distance Relationships, papers are particularly encouraged around the following four areas:

  • Innovative Delivery and Assessment Practices
  • Collaborative Alliances and Links
  • Developing Career Pathways for Learners
  • Engaging Industry and Local Enterprises in Rural and Remote Areas

The program for the 2007 conference has been designed to incorporate a selection of keynote addresses, interactive workshops as well as some enterprise site visits. Feedback gathered from 2005 conference participants has been used to inform the structure and style of this conference.

As Tasmania's largest training provider, TAFE Tasmania looks forward to hosting you to the 2007 TAFE in Rural and Isolated Communities conference.
