The Organising Committee is pleased to invite you to attend and participate in the 2007 TEFMA Melbourne Workshop to be held in Melbourne on Monday July 2 and Tuesday July 3.
Beyond Benchmarking: Aligning your portfolio with your
institution's strategic direction
As many institutions undertake major capital developments, or are progressively redeveloping existing infrastructure, the question is often posed as to how we can ensure that our capital and infrastructure planning is aligned with our organisation’s strategic directions. The purpose of this two-day workshop is for participants to explore and learn about some of the techniques that are used to assist facilities professionals in aligning their programs with their institutional goals and in developing performance measures that meet their University’s governance requirements.
Of particular interest will be the opportunity to work in the further development of the existing TEFMA Benchmarks to enable the benchmarks to address the needs of property and facility managers in developing their own capital and infrastructure plans. The workshop will look at the development of contemporary strategic benchmarks into performance measures that are relevant to the overall governance of the Institution. We will not only be looking at how we can use the existing TEFMA benchmark data but will be exploring what other indicators are needed.
The Workshop has sourced a number of excellent external presenters and facilitators to examine such topics as;
- Strategic portfolio management, what is it? What do institutions expect? How do we align with the institution’s strategic purpose?
- As the changes in learning environments evolve how do we ensure our learning environments align to strategic directions?
- With our institutions embracing sustainability in their strategic plans and directions what is the likely impact on the property portfolio in terms of environmental and business sustainability and regulatory compliance?
- How do we measure building performance so as to provide a strategic focus?
- Are there strategic advantages to our institutions benchmarking CAPEX?
- Can strategic space management support the Property Portfolio’s alignment with strategic direction?
We look forward to you joining us in exploring these questions in Melbourne this July, and enjoying the many attractions that Melbourne has to offer in conjunction with your Workshop attendance.
