Invitation To Attend
Voice Theatre Lab at the Academy of the Arts, University of Tasmania, Launceston, are holding the first Physio-Vocal Praxis conference from 11 to 13 November, 2010. It is a conference, training and performance event that examines the synergy of voice and body in contemporary performance contexts. Theatre practitioners, directors, voice and movement teachers, academics, postgraduate students and performers are invited to attend to propose futures for the consolidation of voice and movement practice. The voice and body work as one entity, and this event gives these people the opportunity to further investigate this relationship.
Voice and movement teachers, directors, choreographers, theatre practitioners, performers, academics and students are invited to attend to discuss their unique ways of working with the voice and body.
All papers will be peer reviewed and published through a new online journal: Voice Theatre Lab: Physio-Vocal Praxis.
The conference will be sectioned into four main parts: Conference, Laboratory, Training and Performance.
Conference
Professionals will be invited to speak on the following topics that relate to Synergy:
· Discussion of voice and movement consolidation
· Body and voice synergy in training and performance
· How the body affects the voice/how the voice affects the body
Laboratory
Body and voice professionals will collaborate to develop exploratory training methods that challenge current voice and movement training. New training methods will be recorded. Aims are to:
· Share ideas and methods relating to voice and body
· Experiment with movement and voice to develop innovative training methods
· Synergize voice and body training and practice
· Develop ways in which voice can be used in various physical/body positions
· Develop a further understanding of the body/voice relationship
· Explore the link between training and performance using these training methods
Training
Voice and body workshops open to conference delegates and general public.
Performance
Public performances by theatre practitioners who explore body/voice relationships.
Keynote speakers will include, Michael Lugering, Master teacher of voice, movement and acting, author ‘The Expressive Actor’, Jacqui Carroll and John Nobbs, Artistic Directors, Frank Theatre, Experience Bryon, Artistic Director/Choreographer/Stage Director
